Community
Real, moderated spaces for peer support and belonging — clearly separated from MIKE's own guidance, and never a replacement for your private conversations.
Connection isn't a nice-to-have.
A meta-analysis of over 300,000 people put a number on it. Drag to roughly how many days a week you get meaningful social contact.
Some regular contact. More frequent, meaningful connection is consistently linked to better long-term health.
Context, not a diagnosis: Holt-Lunstad et al. (2010), a meta-analysis of 148 studies covering 308,849 people (PLoS Medicine), found that weak social relationships carry a mortality risk comparable to smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day — larger than the risk from inactivity or obesity. It measured broad social integration and support, not a specific day-count.
What MIKE does for community
Talk. Be heard. Be understood.
MIKE Free gives you private, one-to-one support. Community spaces are part of MIKE+ — kept separate so private support is never confused with a public feature.
- Private conversational support, never shared with any group
- General safety and professional signposting
- Permission-based My MIKE profile
Understanding becomes action.
Community is a MIKE+ feature: real, moderated spaces for peer support and belonging, kept clearly separate from MIKE's own guidance.
- Main community space and moderated topic groups
- Mental wellbeing peer support, fitness & health, work & opportunities, life skills and 1% Better challenges
- Local and interest-based groups
- Report, block, mute and moderation controls throughout
What this looks like in practice.
Community and MIKE Circle both involve other people, but work differently. Community is peer-to-peer belonging in moderated spaces; MIKE Circle is one-to-one, consent-led sharing with specific people who support you.
